The Waterway Café was built in 1986 by entrepreneurial businessman and real estate developer Jefferson Vander Wolk, on the site of the former Waterway Marina. Featuring Florida’s only floating boat bar, great food, friendly staff, and magnificent views of the Intracoastal Waterway, it has become a South Florida tradition and a favorite of locals and out-of-town travelers alike.

Led by General Manager Rich Gagliardi and a dedicated team of over 100 people, the Waterway Café (and its sister organization The Inn of the Governors in Santa Fe, New Mexico) is a showcase of an enlightened management system called TeamPLUS Management. This breakthrough approach, created and pioneered by Waterway founder Jefferson Vander Wolk with support from Leadership Alliance’s Matthew Cross, integrates two powerful elements: A unique gainshare program, where team members participate in the growth and success of the business. A unique life success skills training program for all team members. The quality methods of Dr. W. Edwards Deming, the man behind the success of companies such as Toyota, Harley Davidson and Proctor & Gamble also play an important role in the TeamPLUS system.
