Our History:
In 1941, Frank Pica, Sr., opened a pizzeria at 62nd and Race Street in West Philadelphia. This small establishment containing just a few tables, an old-fashioned brick oven and a take-out counter soon became a special part of the neighborhood. Frank’s loyal customers revered the friendly and warm atmosphere he promoted as much as his famous square pizza. In 1956, Frank Sr., along with his son, Frank Jr., moved the pizzeria to 7803 West Chester Pike in Upper Darby where the focus was on pizza and sandwiches. By 1971, Frank Jr. with the support of his devoted wife, Camille,
expanded the establishment into a full-service restaurant serving many homemade pastas and Italian specialties in addition to the famous square pizza. Like his father, Frank Jr., takes great pride in the food served and the service provided and he recognizes that his success would not have been possible without his dedicated and loyal staff over the years. In 2017, Frank Jr.’s dream of a second location has become a reality. Frank Jr., along with Angela, Frank, Lori, and Emmanuel (Frank’s son-in-law and Executive Chef) strive to continue the legacy that Frank Sr. started, “The customer always comes first.” We look forward to serving our guests for many more years to come!
