Our Story It was 1968, at the age of twenty-six, Erwin Kohler and his wife Judy took a leap of faith and opened Kohler Catering. Erwin worked his way from dishwasher at Sacksteders Restaurant in Dayton to Executive Chef at University of Dayton's Kennedy Union. He attended The Culinary Institute of America at Yale University. Erwin has grown Kohler Catering to success with one simple truth, "Never ask someone to do something you wouldn't do yourself." In 1980 the Kohler's built the Presidential Banquet Center, which has four banquet rooms. In 2000 the Kohler Center was added. It houses a state-of-the-art commissary, kitchen, corporate office and a banquet facility. Today, Kohler Catering services over 3,500 events per year and employs over 125 staff members. Kohler provides catering for company luncheons, gala's, weddings, corporate and social events as well as in home gatherings. Erwin and Judy pride themselves on being family owned and operated. Their son, Craig, followed in his father's footsteps and became a chef in his own right. Craig attended the Culinary Institute of America at Hyde Park, New York. Craig brings a modern and artistic approach to culinary arts. The family tradition continues as the Kohler grandchildren work in the family business. Half a decade later you never know where you will see the Kohler Catering team. It's not unusual to find the Kohler family serving meals at the Presidential Banquet Center or on-site at your event. The Kohler's believe every moment matters, personally assuring every event is a success.
